This is a superb introduction to trekking in Nepal amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole of Nepal. The region of Langtang and Helambu is far less trekked than the Annapurna or Everest areas making it all the more attractive. Pammy’s favourite valley in Nepal!

trecking in langtangNorth of Kathmandu valley lies Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung. Nestled at the foot of these Himalayan ranges is a beautiful and secluded valley the Langtang National Park. Here the rare red pandas lurk in dense lichen-draped rhododendron thickets, heards of blue sheep graze the alpine meadows and lammergeiers glide over glaciated valleys amidst a scenery of lofty Himalayan peaks. From Kyanjin Gompa we will have a chance to climb a ridge on Yala Peak or hike to the foot of Langshisa glacier for an incredible view of glaciers, icefalls and snow fields surrounded by high mountains. We end our trek in the Helambu valley and home of the Sherpas of Nepal taking us back to Kathmandhu.

Itinerary

langtang A jeep drive to Syabru Bensi north east of Kathmandu brings you to the starting point of this spectacular Langtang trek. Moving up a gentle gradient, you pass along the dramatic ridges through villages inhabited by the Tibetan, Tamang and Sherpa people and into lush forest of Rhododendron, conifers and oak. Breathtaking Mountain views emerge on your ascent as the vegetation becomes sparser and the Himalayas make themselves known. Buddhist prayer flags, brightly painted chortens, mani walls (carved Tibetan mantra Om Mani Padme Hum!) and yak herders welcome you to this awesome land and its people. Langtang Lirung, Langshisa, Ganjala Peaks proudly show above as you head for the main Langtang and Kanjing trail.

TESTIMONIALS

"The holiday exceeded my expectations by miles; perfect weather, perfect setting, perfect company and perfect walking. I liked the fact that there was a choice of walks and that if you wished, you could opt out for a day. Everyone was so helpful and friendly and I learned quite a few good tips for walking...”

"What can one say about trekking in the highest mountains in the world with Pammy - neither mountains or leader can be bettered!! The trek from beginning to end has been a fantastic experience and the best holiday I have ever been one. We walked in the hot sun, up high mountains and trekked in snow up to the knee all in the same day. It was both frightening and exhilarating at the same time but with Pammy's leadership and management of women and conditions you felt safe. Pammy is the tops!!"

"The holiday absolutely exceeded all my expectations. The scenery was fantastic and varied. There was a good variety of trekking and city visits. The hotel in Kathmandu and Nagargot were fantastic, clean, efficient and comfortable. The transport arrangements were excellent, comfortable and timely on the whole. Pammy was funny, friendly, informative, experienced with the right blend of friendliness and professionalism. She made me feel safe in difficult conditions and was a great source of knowledge and entertainment in equal measure!"

"The Nepal trek was a fantastic trip - it was exhausting, exhilarating, challenging and empowering. How many holidays does one receive a blessing from a Lama.. Nepal is a fantastic country, with wonderful welcoming people. It is rich in culture, with magnificent panoramas and whilst I knew Everest was there, I hadn't anticipated having the opportunity to fly up close…fantastic!!"

"An excellent introduction to a stunning area of Nepal. The sudden adverse weather conditions highlighted Pammy's excellence as a leader in extreme conditions"

"Way beyond the expectations - I came to Nepal with an open mind and I cannot believe the range of situations we found ourselves in. Extreme contrasts in all ways; culture, scenery, people, accommodation and weather!! I felt extremely well cared for; there was constant information given, good preparation, evaluation of events, de-briefing sessions, which all helped to make us feel safe even in extreme events…"

"I enjoyed the holiday immensely... scenery was great, the trek well planned and accommodating and it was a great introduction to Nepal and the Himalayas. We encountered several challenging situations which were excellently managed by Pammy..”
