outdoor leadership training
Our countryside is a powerful playground that can be utilised for recreational, health, social, personal and educational outcomes. This has yet to be fully appreciated by our Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) Communities.
It is a fact that Britain has very few BME outdoor activities practitioners. This project aims to address this.
We aim to
- Offer a training package to encourage the growth of confident and competent role models from within BME communities to improve psychological, emotional and physical access to wild open spaces for everyone.
- Entice and excite people from BME communities to actively engage in countryside pursuits.

Who is it for
- Minimum age: 18 years
- BME's involved in education, youth work, community development and any other related area
- Want to use the outdoor environment to enhance their work
- Recruitment drive events will take place in participating regions throughout the UK.
Training Outcomes
- Gain technical competence and National Governing Body Awards in a variety of outdoor activities.
- Participate in John Muir Award and DofE Gold Award.
-
Engage in a personal development process that enhances self awareness, increases confidence and recognises personal and professional potential. Via personal coach and learning log.
- Gain skills in facilitation and creative design of outdoor experiences for diverse communities and issue based themes.

- Devise a programme of events/training to encourage their community to actively engage in the countryside. Supported by a personal coach and local agencies.
